Wonderful topic! I relied on social history in general for my first story, but I was also fortunate that I had family stories and notes. My next story is going to be quite a bit harder to write as I don’t have as many stories, letters or notes from the time period (roughly the 1930s in Florida). I love your idea of using the diaries and letters of our ancestors’ contemporaries. Thanks!
Thank you. I might start looking at diaries or history of the period. Especially the diaries of people who came over to Canada on the same boat as my ancestor in 1760.
Thankyou Thankyou
I ache for some link to the past. Letters. Notes. Bibles. So much missing. Thankyou for your Topic today.

Very useful suggestion Lynn. I had not thought about looking for other people’s diaries or letters.
In this week’s episode of Storylines, we take a closer look at backstory and identify the 3 most common mistakes writers make when they incorporate backstory into the larger narrative

As I stay isolated , your tips are very helpful.
