Finding the Seeds of a Story in Your Research

Sometimes with so much research its hard to see the stories that are hiding within. Our research can be big and cumbersome and overwhelming. As a whole our research is not a story, we have to learn how to breakdown that research so that we can see the story ideas. That’s what we learn to do in today’s Storylines.

  1. I found this very helpful for starting my family’s story. It made good sense to me to start small and then I will see progress and not feel overwhelmed! Thank you

  2. Love the analogy of carving a pumpkin to pieces and the seeds. Works well for me. I will share this today with my writing group.

  3. Would you apply this “seed search” approach to an early settler ancestor who is part of a fully grown forest…. emigration, murder, rape & fire were all part of his life. Your video has left me with a dilemma i.e. historical accuracy v “big pumpkins” Your videos always bring focus to the writing process. Thank you.
